Dear Mom,
A pretty crazy week if you ask me, and it seemed like it took forever. Life of a mission, i suppose. we have been teaching this family friend of a member. At our last appointment we talked with him and had a really good lesson. we reminded him of the Baptismal invite we gave to him and sent him home with a Article of Faith card. well we didnt think too much of it and went on our way. a couple of days later we get a call from him and he tells us how he was reading over that card, going down each of the points and says that he agrees with all of them. as i am freaking out, he says he wants to be baptized, let me tell you that was awesome. it was the coolest experiences ever. who just calls to tell you they want to be baptized... not many people. he is so prepared. it is fun to talk with him.
our other investigator that we set a baptismal date with wrote the bishop and is starting to back off. that was hard to hear but all people have their agency so who knows. he said he still wants us to come by but it just hurts a little bit, but good things will come from it.
on other news, a Part memberish couple we have been slowly working with is starting to make some progress. we are working with the inactive boyfriend while the sisters are working with the non member girlfriend. we never could teach him because we would never listen, but he liked having us over. well this sunday they broke up, this really humbled him, and now he is wanting to take the missionary lessons and maybe come back to church. it was really cool. it reminded me of the story of Alma 32. when the people came to him and wanted to be taught and he goes into saying that they were humble enough to teach. hopefully somethings will get done now, how exciting.
this friday we were on Sam Houston campus making par cord Bracelets. that was such a good idea. we had a booth and we would help people make their own bracelets. it was cool because it allowed us as missionaries to get one-on-one time with the students and share our purpose with them. we were only supposed to be out there for about 2 hours but there were so many people flooding our booth it wasnt until 4 we got the last person out of there. we had a lot of them fill out surveys at the end of their experience asking if they would like to take a class at the tute or hear a message about jesus christ. out of 52 surveys about 20 of them were receptive to hearing more. so hopefully a few of them want to progress more and more. the student news even came and did a little documentary on us. it was pretty cool.
Well dad it seems like you are a "Man." i am glad to hear that you didnt quit.. it seems like you are a warrior instead of a sheep. ha how did they kids like riding down the freeway in the pouring rain. ha you are preparing them for their mission. ha Sterl and Ariel, man yall are growing up so fast. there is a grand-dog and new house. Chandler, you sound pretty busy. Good luck in school and what not. Lacey, be safe and keep loving little JP.
well the crazy story this week is texas weather. the beginning of this week it was a good 70 to 80 degrees. some days were a little rainy but no big deal. sunday morning hits. its stormy and about 30 degrees. texas weather really doesnt know what it wants to be... kinda like our investigators. ha
well yall, i love you tons. the church is true... what more do i need to say?
