well this week was awesome. it was super
fast. its already week 6. wow!!! the last week of the transfer. we were
also super busy this week. we were looking for a less active guy. no one
has ever heard of him so what does the bishop do?
send the missionaries, so we go. walk down to the trailer and give some
good knocks, this guy answers. we ask him if we are at the right place
and says he has lived there for 3 years and has never heard of that guy,
then slams the door, pretty rude. so determined
to find out where this guy has gone we knock on the neighbor’s door,
and this old guy with a beer in his hand opens the door, which is pretty
normal for texas. we start talking and he has no idea who that guy is.
then starts talking about how he is working
for a Mormon. he then starts talking about fishing and that everyone in
texas fishes and if we ever need to know anyone just go fishing. it was
pretty funny.
another funny story from this week happened
later that week. we got some bikes the other day and started using them
in neighborhoods. so we rode down this big hill to visit some more less
actives. we stopped and look at the map and when
we start up again all I hear from behind me is a crack and then a "Oh
crap!" ha elder Su'a broke his pedal off his bike. haha it was so funny.
ha we stopped and talk to this guy who speaks little English. good
thing I grew up in the T-town. I talked to him
a bit, borrowed a hammer and some tape. after a few smacks with the
hammer and a quick realization that you can’t tape the pedal onto the
bike we fixed it. we ride back to the road cause it is getting dark. we
stop and say a prayer for safety and as soon as
we start up again it fell off again. so he just ran\walked his bike up
this huge hill. ha I could only stop and laugh. We were safe though.
man I just keep of thinking of stuff that
happened this week. we helped a member in our bishopric with some
construction.... times like this I wish I had a few more hours of AK
Nymeyer construction under my belt. he had a huge water
container that he wants above his house so its gravity fed to run his
house if he ever needs too, super smart. well what we had to do was put
up four steel poles that were about 20 feet tall. it took 12 men to
hoist up the poles with ropes and wooden braces.
we get the first two up and then we hear a huge crack of lightning. we
stop for about 15 minutes. then when the storm kinda passes we start up
again. yeah it was super sketchy. mostly cause when we got the poles
standing we had to position them on the concrete
blocks. so two people had to go down and dead lift the pole into
position. yeah it was pretty safe.
the work went good this week. we got a
referral from my zone leader of this guy who has been coming to church
with him for the last couple of weeks. so we go and stop by and we see
this guy, balding, no teeth, no shirt, and a hat with
a bottle opener on the brim. his first words are "I know your church
is true yal.l" man, so things are going to go good with him.
then if you remember Jason, he is the guy who
has an awesome bike, well, on exchanges we stopped by and knock on his
door. we hear music but no answer. we get in the car after leaving a
note, and I feel like we should go to the back
yard, so we do. we see this lady sitting in a chair and Jason with a
propane torch thing. he sits us down and we talk for a while. he was
throwing back some beers with his girlfriend. we start talking and I ask
the gf if she goes to church. she says she doesn't
want to but has a lot of faith. well we start talking about that more
and she tells us that she notices that the world makes things seem right
that still make her feel guilty. so we tell her that the gospel can fix
that problem. she lights up, and gets really
excited. we gave her a book of Mormon, exchanged numbers and set an
appointment for next week. she seems really awesome I cant wait to meet
with them.
well everyone seems so great. Dad, football
sounds good. I hope the scrimmage between mvhs will be a smashfest, good
luck. Lace, I hope work is going good. Chandler, you rock. Sterl, be
safe and have fun in Cali. Ariel, you are the
best. I love you tons. Mom, you work too hard sometimes. I love you.
the packages was awesome. the picture on the blog was just us at a youth
basketball night. we wear our white shirts and ties with our shorts,
that's how people can tell we are missionaries.
well the week was fun. love you.
