Dropping B off at the MTC!‏

When we got to the airport.. after Westley couldn't find a parking spot and drove around in circles.. we walked inside and a cool, crisp Elder flashed the peace sign at us. His flight was early and he beat us there! We were so excited to see him. After a few minutes he kept looking at the payphone and said "Do you think I should call my mom?" and, of course, we said yeah! and lent him our cell phone. We had a good laugh when he said "Mom, don't cry, its just a phone call." As we walked to the car, B steadily got more and more nervous... because he could see his breath in the air! However, when he found a free pair of headphones on the ground, all doubts were quickly resolved.
On the drive back to Provo, we told B that he had 45 minutes to pick where he wanted to go for lunch. Whether out of nerves or genius, he promptly started the stop watch on his watch to start the 45 minute countdown. During those 45 minutes, Westley shared hilarious stories from his own mission and gave B some critical life lessons. When we got back into town we asked B if he had decided where he wanted to eat. We suggested Texas Roadhouse but he said he would be eating Texas for the next two years. So we settled on IHOP because B didn't have a breakfast this morning. While waiting for our meal to arrive, B related a story from high school when he found a chicken nugget in the shape of America. As B put it, "America is not an easy shape to make." It was a random yet funny story that brought a smile to everyone's face. While at IHOP, we also noticed another family preparing to go to the MTC and drop their son off. Upon further inspection, B and Westley both agreed that the other soon-to-be Elder did not look like Texas material so they wouldn't be meeting anytime soon... More of a "Montana" if you will...
After IHOP, we discussed whether or not to get Ice Cream. B gave us a blank stare. And then in a calm voice explained that there are only two great sins in this world... Hot chocolate in the summer, and ice cream in the winter. We resolved on getting Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks.
B was worried about taking a Starbucks cup into the MTC so he drank his cider faster than he probably should've.
As we arrived to the MTC, his insides were probably boiling with cider, but on the outside he was cool and crisp... like the brisk Provo day...
We parked across the street from the MTC and unloaded all of his things.

We walked to the nearest MTC employee and he told us only cars could go in the entrance so they called to get a Host for B to come get him. In the 76 seconds that we were waiting for B's host to arrive, B was asked the same two questions a minimum of 5 times... "Where are you serving?" "Spanish speaking?". In typical B fashion, he just smiled and replied, "Nope.. dodged that bullet..".

After his host arrived, we shared some hugs and wished him luck on the next best two years!

The last couple of photos are taken while hiding behind the light post, in true stalker fashion, as we watched B walk into the MTC

. He'll be a great missionary! We couldn't be prouder of him. written by Stasia Christensen (Thanks Stasia for a great post)
